Taylorsville Art Show

So, this last week was busy.  On Saturday, it was the Taylorsville Art show. So for the last few weeks I have been making my nieces and nephews draw pictures for it. I was sick with the flu and never got any picture done myself which I am sad about.  The good news is, my extended family came through with a fair number of awards. My Dad got a white ribbon, one of my nieces got a red ribbon. I also have one nephew who got a blue ribbon (see below), and another who got a peoples choice award. On a side note, the one who got the peoples choice award didn’t know he was getting an award. So he was REALLY annoyed when his big brother with the blue ribbon started gloating about his ribbon.

My sister was buying a car and I didn’t get there until the award ceremony was almost over.  Oh well, maybe next year, or at least I’ll try again at the county fair. I think we made the car salesman feel really rushed — sorry.

So on Sunday (after the show) I found a sketch I started a while ago. It is based on the “Storm Dragon” from a how to draw dragons book. I thought it was pretty cool so it is posted below. Too bad I didn’t get it done until after the show was over. I probably wouldn’t have gotten an award but I could have put something in.

Bill collectors are dumb

So, last week, I get into the elevator, and I hear a strange noise. I am the only one in the elevator car, but I can hear a voice.  It isn’t very loud, and I couldn’t hear it very well, but it heard it well enough to figure out what was. It was a bill collector, calling the emergency phone in the elevator. I didn’t even know you could do that.

I’ve had bill collectors call me for people who don’t actually live at my residence. At least two different people actually. I’ve had another call me and want me to leave bill collection notices on a neighbors door (I should have told them about it, so they could sue them for violating the FDCPA). But an elevator?

Perhaps I’m asking too much, but would it really kill bill collectors to do some basic research. You know maybe before harassing random phone numbers for months on end. It stops you from looking like a moron when you try to bill collect an elevator. Is it dumber than when the RIAA tried to sue a laser printer? You decide.

I’m walking through the parking lot, and what do I see?  That’s right, a slice of bread. A slice of bread covered in mold (which is why I assume it turned pink), and topped off with a cigarette butt just to make it extra special.

Gross. Why don’t people clean up after themselves? There is no maid service in the parking lot. I know one thing, I’m not going to touch it. Once it is covered in mold my good Samaritan instincts no longer apply. It has been there quite a while now, so apparently the scavengers or vermin won’t either.

Weekly Sketch Group 242 – Master Chief

I was sick and exhausted all week, so you only get a rough sketch of the weekly topic. This week it is Master Chief from the Halo games. I was going to give him a funny speech bubble but the new topics are already up. Not the best picture but not bad for being drawn on a lunch break.

Weekly Sketch Group #241 – Hawkeye

This week I chose Hawkeye from the topics available.  His legs are too short but I think it turned out better than last week.  Of course drawing it on larger paper probably helped.  The caption is making fun of the boxing glove arrows that the Green Arrow uses over in the DC universe.
